What is Better Choices, Better Health®?
Living with a long-term (chronic) health condition can be hard. Better Choices, Better Health® is a free group workshop for adults who live with or support someone with a chronic health condition. Choose between one of two workshops:
- Better Choices, Better Health® – Chronic Disease: for those with conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, arthritis, gastrointestinal (GI), depression, long COVID-19 and others.
- Better Choices, Better Health® – Chronic Pain: for those with conditions like fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, persistent pain, migraines, arthritis and others.
These workshops can help improve your confidence by learning new self-management skills and to enjoy a better quality of life.

Events
Fall Training
Fall training started on Oct 28, 2025. The training is taking place in the parish hall of St. Matthew Lutheran church. Training will be provided by Pastor Mark Rekken, our Director of Pastoral Care. Parking is available in the back of the church, spots 1-3 or there is some street parking out in front .
AGM (Annual General Meeting)
The next Annual General Meeting will be held on March 21, 2026 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church starting at 10 am. Please contact the office should you wish to attend online by March 7th. I will send out the meeting information once a Zoom meeting is created.
Budget Meeting
The 2026 annual Budget Meeting will be held on Nov 27, 2025 in the Parish Hall at 10 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. If you or your church has donated to Lutheran Hospital Ministries in 2025, you are welcome to attend. Parking is available at the back of the church or there is street parking at the front. The meeting will also be made available by Zoom. Please contact the office at 403-264-4045 or by email at lhmsac@gmail.com to find out the meeting ID and password.
The Education Luncheon
The education luncheon was on June 7th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The topic of this luncheon was about Caring for a Pessimist. This luncheon was open to all congregations. Should you like a copy of the materials presented, please contact us at 403-264-4045 or by emailing lhmsac@gmail.com.
Our 50th Anniversary Service and Luncheon
The 50th Anniversary Service occured at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, on October 18th , 2025. The event started with a special service performed by Rev. Mark Rekken and Rev. Mark Lobitz, followed by live music performed by the band “Cross Country” and the luncheon downstairs. The lunch was cooked by the ladies at St. Matthew. We had 15 volunteeers from 6 different Lutheran Churches helping us with lunch, decorating, the service, the organ player, setting and clearing of tables and chairs, dishes and making the poster for event. I truly hope I didn’t miss anyone. LHM’s would like to thank all the volunteers who helped make this event so special. The day was beautiful and event well attended by over 50 people.
29TH ANNUAL WALK, RUN OR ROLL FOR LOVE!
The 29th Annual Walk, Run or Roll for Love event will happen the last Saturday morning in April. So mark your calendar for April 25th, 2026.
